Encyclopedia Wines

The concept of curation has reached a higher level with this collection of wines presented by the Francis Ford Coppola estate.  A team of experts traveled to France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Argentina and selected six varietals that best represent the history and culture of winemaking from their perspective regions, and have a story to tell.

We love the label’s comprehensive website and their quirky, yet informative KnoWine campaign, an attempt to educate consumers (especially Millenials) about wine and its culture.

The custom bottle and shape will surely attract attention on and off the shelves: Fashioned as a decanter, the bottle’s wide opening allows for the wine to breathe while in the bottle. Because of the size of the opening, the bottle has a screwcap closure, which is becoming more and more popular among wine lovers.

We liked what we tasted, especially the Riesling from the Rhein-Mosel region of Germany. A French Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordeaux, a Pinot Grigio from the delle Venezie region of Italy, a Tempranillo from the Spanish city of Yecla, and two Argentine wines from Mendoza, a Malbec and a Torrontes, complete the collection. The selection is comprised of popular picks that will certainly not impress wine connoiseurs, but will make for an easier shelf choice for people who enjoy good wine but are intimidated by the required knowledge.

Social currency: Wine companies and retail spaces are discovering new ways to help consumers feel comfortable with wine selection. This curated collection has the potential of breaking out based on its straightforward, easy-to-understand approach, and has quirky bottles to boot.

Why are we not able to enjoy these wonderful wines in Kentucky of yet?? I really loved having the Reisling with dinner at Bonefish, but would love even more to be able to purchase locally or at least have it shipped here!
